Professor Bruce Jentleson on Fracturing American Consensus on Ukraine, Foreign Policy

Initially support for Ukraine was largely bipartisan, however Republican support has waned after rising gas and food prices, as well as negative opinions on “Biden Administration” policies. “Republican support fell from 50 percent in July to 33 percent in November, while Democrats only went from 69 percent to 61 percent,” Jentleson said. Jentleson argues that Ukraine will factor in the 2024 Presidential Election, however, it will be overtaken “by domestic problems, culture wars, and personas.”
