Polis has retooled its Congressional Intern Program to ensure any/all interested students can participate. If you plan to pursue an internship in a congressional office and would like some additional support, Polis will host monthly hour-long workshops on a range of topics.
Because we understand how busy students are with classes and other commitments, we will host two sessions per month on the same topic, giving interested students two chances to attend each one. Each workshop will be from 3:00pm to 4:00pm on a Tuesday/Wednesday in the fall semester, and on a Thursday/Friday in the spring semester, and will take place in Room 200 of Rubenstein Hall (part of the Sanford School for Public Policy):
September 10/11 — Background: What interns do
October 15/16 — Research: Where to apply
November 19/20 — Resume Writing: Showcasing applicable experience
January 14/15 — Cover Letter: Demonstrating sincere interest
February 6/7 — Engagement: Communicating with offices
March 19/20 — Following Up: Persistence vs. restraint
April 16/17 — Open Session: General Q&A
Note that this workshop is for anyone interested in pursuing a congressional internship. You don’t have to sign up to attend, and you don’t have to attend each monthly session.
